BROADCASTER UPDATE 2/19/13 NEW SONGS NEW EP NOW ALL WE NEED IS SHOWS!
BROADCASTER UPDATE: Planning on recording possibly next month with @Moe Sherzai of Goddard, will be an EP of new material that will be released online via Bandcamp with a possible short-run CD release as well. Burgess Shale, a handful of yet untitled new tracks, and possibly some instrumental pieces and/or a cover song. Just a little something to hold y’all over before we get our next full length together. Also we’ll be looking to book some shows around New England/New York to support it so hit us up if you want us to play yr town firstname.lastname@example.org
Howdy y’all! Unfortunately our guitarist Moe is going to be relinquishing his post as Broadcaster’s master of noise and space so we are currently looking for a guitarist to take his place. So if you enjoy reverb, delay, long walks on the beach, and occasional bouts of reckless speed-infused binge drinking then have we got a job for you! The perfect candidate is someone who can play atmospheric parts but also bring the “rock” when necessary. Backing vocals are a plus. Ability to do slide parts or keyboard is a plus also but not required. So if you love Neil Young, the Wipers, Link Wray, Glenn Branca, Big Star, Silkworm, Wire, Dinosaur Jr, Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West, the Sonics, Guided By Voices, the James Gang, Mogwai, Nirvana, Chavez, Gang of Four, Rapeman, the Posies, Cheap Trick, Black Flag, and Earth then you would be the perfect fit for us. But even if you like some of those bands I think you’d be fine too. Let’s get this turdball rollin’ and start revvin’ up the fuckin rock MA-CHINEEEEEE!
Email us at email@example.com if you’re interested or might have a lead for someone who might be a good fit.
listen to our tunes here and try to play along! If you need chord charts/tuning info let us know too!
New Broadcaster tune pulled from a crappy rehearsal recording. Tune is tentatively called “Drug Mule Blues”…It’s catchy, even in the low-fidelity state heard here. Tell us what ya think and win a prize!*
*the prize is a lasting sense of internal mental peace and serenity. Not valid in North Dakota. Check with your doctor before attempting internal peace.
Victorious demo (recorded live at rehearsal, then overdubs added during my lunch break at the guitar shop. One of the perks of the job heh heh!)…simple punk rock salad with reverb-soaked surf guitar dressing. I usually don’t get too self-reflexive in my lyric writing but this tune is kind of a personal song, discusses going through a past substance situation and subsequent withdrawals in my early 20s and how I think I somehow came out the other end feeling stronger. I’m not the type to discuss this stuff in detail so I will let the tune do the talking for me.
As for the recording it’s not the best quality but between this and the Burgess Shale demo I think you can start to get a picture of how Rational Music (aka the next Broadcaster record) will likely end up sounding. Feel free to offer constructive criticism or just say hi so we know someone’s listening!
BROADCASTER'S 2012 MLB OPINIONS OF THE GAME Blog: post #1, 4.5.2012
BROADCASTER’S BASEBALL UPDATE: 4/5/12 Happy (sort-of) MLB Opening Day! First of MLB.TV rules all…And Johan Santana just pitched a motherfucker of a game! It’s all downhill from here but it’s nice to see my guys pull out a great game against the thoroughly unlikeable tomahawk chop lovin’ Atlanta Braves. Also Bill Murray somehow got me to watch a Cubs game. And finally Steven Strasburg is amazing to watch but dude shave that fucking goat off. Linecum is a damn hell ass good pitcher that doesn’t look like he’s waiting in line for tickets to Mushroomhead, bring your facial hair into this decade. Indie dude beard, ironic Rollie Fingers tribute mustache, anything but that fucking ugly ass bro-tastic goat…sincerely, Broadcaster of Providence, Rhode Island, USA
New demo recorded at our last rehearsal, new song…not officially titled yet but we’ve been refering to it as “Decline.” The working title I wrote down was “Burgess Shale.” So take your pick on which name you like better! Either way it’s a recording featuring our new drummer Jen and a song we’ve yet to play live yet so give it a listen!
From today’s practice session, to celebrate a beautiful spring day here in New England we had a fun little jam. Getting our set together before our first show in what seems like forever, Friday April 6th at Providence Social Club (a.k.a. the old Jerky’s Bar) for a 75orLess Records shocase (http://www.75orlessrecords.com) with our labelmates Soma Nova and Suicide Bill. Enjoy!
Acoustic demo of a new Broadcaster tune. Quality isn’t that great, you can hear Chris’s girlfriend talking to their dog as well as a nature program on the tv in the background and a few of the lyrics ended up being rewritten but it’s still a cool sneak peak at our song writing processes. The working title of the song is “The Decline” but who knows what it’ll end up being called. With the full band it comes across as an odd mix of Guided By Voices, Syd Barrett, and Sonic Youth. Again this is some rough unpolished stuff so don’t be surprised if the end product ends up sounding completely different from this little demo…Enjoy!
A random solo demo by Chris. Short and sweet little Pop Song “Of All The Fossils (You Were The Best)” recorded Dec 2011. No idea if it will ever see the light of day as a release so those of you on our Tumblr Please Enjoy!!
